OLIVIA HUNT - #1
Olivia is a senior majoring in Psychology with a double minor in Italian and Music. She loves listening to music and frogs are her favorite. She loves Safeway brownies, pull-apart Twizzlers, and prosciutto. In her free time, she loves to create, read, play video games, and watch her pet tortoise be cute! She has played lacrosse for five years, and plays both attack and defense. Her absolute favorite is attack. She is so completely excited to be back on the field and move her body. She is so thankful to see her teammates once again this new season after no season the prior year. She is super pumped to spend more time with her lacrosse family! |
KRIS JOVAG - #3
Kris is a junior and is majoring in biology.
In her free time, she loves to to hike and spend time with her friends and family! She loves a good pair of silly socks and munching on fresh fruit. She has been playing lacrosse for 8 years and her favorite position on the field is defense. You may see her do some middi switches during games! Kris is excited to be on the field this season and play with her new team. She is looking forward in getting to know her new teammates, and be a wonderful captain! |
ESHA SINGH - #5
Esha is a sophomore working towards her nursing degree. She has been playing lacrosse for 7 years! Off the field, she works, spends time with her friends, and likes to watch movies and tv shows. She loves all the fruits, especially pineapples and green grapes. Sweet tart ropes and chocolate cake is her favorite sweet treat, almost as sweet as her bestie Erika (#19)! She is most excited to continue her lacrosse career in college and make more new friends! She is so happy to be a captain for this team and be the best leader she can be! |
INDIA CARTWRIGHT - #20
India is currently a freshman here at Portland State and is majoring in psychology, with a focus on criminology. This will be her 12th year playing lacrosse, so she is one of our more experienced players. Her earliest memory of lacrosse was just passing a ball with my brothers; they really influenced her love for the sport.
In her free time, India likes to hang out with friends, go on adventures, and not only listens to music but also plays it in her guitar. She is excited to be apart of such an awesome team! India can't wait to score some goals and make the most of this season. |
SYDNEY GILBERT - #15
Sydney Gilbert is a dual masters graduate student studying social work (MSW) and public health (MPH). She works for the Antiracism Initiative in the School of Public Health and does street outreach with Central City Concern’s Navigation Team.
When she had free-time, she enjoyed snowboarding, rock climbing, painting, napping with her cat, and tabletop gaming. This is her 4th year playing lacrosse, but the first 3 were in high school over a decade ago. She likes playing goalie because of the adrenaline, the mental game, and the unconditional support from teammates. |
MADISON HARMS - #7
Madison is one of PSU's coolest undergraduate students who is studying occupational therapy who just so happens to be an awesome lacrosse player!
She loves going to the gym and spending time with her friends, her best friend being Erika (#19). She is completely and utterly driven and one of the kindest human beings you will ever meet. She loves her family and is always willing to lend a hand. (Shout out to her family for taking many of our game photos!) She is so excited for this season, especially since she gets to be with her friends again. She can't wait to work hard and score goals this year. She is eager to learn how to be the best player she can be for her team! |
MAYA KARKABI - #13
Maya is one of the graduate students on the Portland State University women's lacrosse team! This is her first year playing and she can't wait!
She is usually a busy bee, but when she's not working her butt off, she likes to spend time with friends, watch movies and tv shows as well as hang out with her cat! Although she is new to not only the team, but the sport too, she is super excited to try her best and learn from her teammates. Maya is really looking forward to supporting her team in any way, shape, or form that she can! |
GRETA JARVIS - #11
Greta Jarvis is a graduate student on the home stretch of her Master of Public Health at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health.
You can find Greta playing midfield during our games and, when she's not running up and down the field, she enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, reading, traveling, practicing yoga, speaking Spanish, playing harp, and listening to podcasts. She played lacrosse from 6th grade to freshman year of college, took an eight year break, and is so excited to be back on the field with PSU Women's Lacrosse! |
AINA AKISADA - #12
Aina is a senior studying child, youth, and family education. This is her second year playing lacrosse and her favorite position so far on the field is defense.
If she is not playing lacrosse, she is snowboarding at Mount Hood with her friends! She loves to drink kombucha and chocolate milk. She also loves lavender, dogs, sunflowers, and food. She is looking forward this season to making new friends, making new memories, and learning how to be a better lacrosse player on and off the field! |
YUZUKI KOHARA - #23
Yuzuki is a junior and is majoring in international studies.
Outside of lacrosse, she likes playing softball, golf, and snowboarding; she is a multi-sport athlete! She also enjoys watching baseball, watching Netflix, and reading. She is an exchange student from Japan, so it is really exciting to play lacrosse here at PSU. This is her first year playing lacrosse. She is so excited to play in all of the games! She really enjoys lacrosse, not because of the competition aspect, but because she loves her team. She is inspired by and always cheered up by her amazing teammates. |
MOESA MATSUI - #8
Moesa Matsui is a junior majoring in business with focus on economics. She is an international student from Japan, like some of her fellow teammates.
During free time, she likes playing basketball, talking with my friends and watching Korean drama. This is her first year playing lacrosse. Her favorite moments during lacrosse are the team's beautiful passes, and going to the goal! Even though she can only play lacrosse for only 1 year, due to the exchange program she is in, she'd like to make some special memories with her lovely teammates, and score some goals! |
SHAYLA NASWOOD - #16
Shayla, our brick wall defender, is in her senior at PSU School of Business. She has been working towards a BA in marketing for the past six years. During her time at PSU, she has been able to make so many great friends and has held so many hats like being our social media director for the past 3 years.
Other than lacrosse, she is a photographer, a cat mom, and a chicken connoisseur. She’s is a member of the Navajo Nation in Arizona, where she is originally from. Though in 2017, she came to Portland to be the first in her family to attend higher education and to be with Erika (#19). She has been playing LAX for 4 years and has played consecutively while at Portland State. Playing on the field is one of the best feelings for her but playing next to her amazing teammates, makes the feeling even better. She is definitely going to miss this team when she graduates! |
BEAR CUNNINGHAM - GOODELL - #10
Bear is a senior majoring in Indigenous Nations Studies while minoring in Biology with a focus in Pre-Med. In their free time, they love getting Thai tea and spam musubi from their favorite food carts on campus. They like to watch eerie meme videos and send them to friends as well as tarot card readings, which dictates everything in their life! Erika (#19) is constantly bothering them, so they seem to hang out often. This is their second year playing lacrosse and discovered their favorite position on the field is defense. Bear is the best at their position when they try hard and use their special power that their friends call "lucky lettuce". They are most excited to get to to know their new teammates and learn more about the game of lacrosse! |
LAUREN GUZMAN - #18
Lauren is a sophomore studying biology and working on pre-dental. In her free time, she like tarot and being in bed and watching movies. She is a coffee lover, loves coconut water, and her favorite flavor of gatorade is red fruit punch (which you may or may not see her drinking at a game)! She has been playing lacrosse for 6 years and loves playing attack. She is looking forward to the most this season is getting back on the field and playing with friends! |
SARA RAY- #14
Sara is a junior and graphic design student at PSU and this is her first year playing lacrosse!
She is a hard worker, but when she is not busy doing amazing Sara things, she likes to hang out with friends and loves to travel. Portland is a little different from her home state of California, but she loves the greenery and nature over here. Sara plays attack and plans to put 110% towards this team. She has made many friends on the team that she can now call family. She hopes to learn more, play hard, but most importantly, have fun with her teammates! |
ERIKA TOLIAO - #19
Erika is a junior who is a science major and an electrical engineering minor. She just moved here from the east coast and can't wait to work with a west coast team for the first time!
On her free time, she likes to hang out with friends, or as they call it "bother them". Other than that, Erika is a menace to society, this is her world and we are all just living in it. She is also really into technology, as she is one of the contributors to the website. She has been playing lacrosse for a hot minute, though this is her first year with the women of Portland State. She has played every position, but her favorite is attack. She hopes to learn from all her teammates and make this is best season yet! |
ANNA WEHMEIER I GIOL - #21
Anna is a second-year graduate student in the book publishing program here at Portland State.
When she's not playing lacrosse, you can find Anna reading, traveling, drinking matcha, watching a show, playing volleyball, studying, or spending time with friends. She hasn't ever played lacrosse before, and this is her first year playing lacrosse. She has absolutely loved learning everything about this sport. Her favorite thing has been the welcoming energy that her teammates always give off. She loves the support and encouragement to keep improving! |
JEMIMAH BURKE - #24
Jem is a senior at Portland State. They started playing last year and this is their second year of playing lacrosse for PSU. They discovered they love to play offense, specifically on attack. In their free time, they love to hike, paint, and play with their cat. Their goal this season is to be the best athlete they can, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the sport! Jem loves their team and hopes to make more memories this year! |
